More from NBC News article EFCU Financial Aid, a partnership between Lexus and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, is offering financial aid for 1,010 students who have epilepsy, the company said on Thursday.
The goal is to double the number of students eligible to receive financial aid.
The partnership was created in 2016 by EFCO, an agency of the Louisiana Education Association, which is also a partner with Lexus.
In 2019, EFCUs received about $4.3 billion in federal financial aid funding.
EFCs also are eligible for state and local funding through Louisiana’s Education Assistance Program, which provides up to $6,000 per student.
The program is administered by the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
The first eligible student was announced last month.
